Nem nuong - Vietnamese Grilled Meatballs

Nem Nướng Cuón Bánh Tráng
Vietnamese Grilled Meatballs wrapped as Sommer Rolls

This is a very yummy dish and very easy to cook! My mum makes them often and gave me this quick recipe recently. I thought it would be complicated, but no, it's really simple!

Nem Nuong Recipe (4 people):
1 kg seasoned ground pork [the best ground pork (Hackepeter/ Mett) for Nem Nuong you get at the supermarket PLUS, if you live in Germany, because it's seasoned well and the consistence is perfect]
5 cloves of garlic, finely minced
2 tblsps sugar
2 tblsps fish sauce (nuoc mam)
2 shallots, finely minced (if you use PLUS Hackepeter, you don't need this)
1 tsp salt (if you use PLUS Hackepeter, you don't need this)
1 tsp ground black pepper
1 tsp baking powder
2 tsp rice wine
-------------------------
green salad
herbs (spearmint, thai basil, cilandro)
roasted peanuts
vietnamese dipping sauce

1. Mix everything in the food processor until the meat gets smooth.

2. Form the meat around the skewers.

3. Grill them in the oven until they are golden brown on both sides for about 20 minutes.

4. Serve the Nem Nuong hot with wet rice paper, lettuce, cucumbers and herbs you prefer (e.g. thai basil, spearmint, cilandro). Add some roasted peanuts.

5. Roll it to a nice sommer roll and dip it in a vietnamese dipping sauce!

Guten Appetit!
